What Is Depression?

According to The National Institute of Mental Health, the definition of depression is "Depression (also known as major depression, major depressive disorder, or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working" (Depression). But it is so much more, it is feeling worthless and underserving of help, it is going through treatment options, some of which can make the feelings worse along with the side effects of said treatment, and it is the people around you having to adjust in accordance with this disease to try and help you. Depression is indiscriminate, physically unseen, and not curable making it a constant battle for those afflicted and their oved ones, but there is hope.
